      It's a Westell. 2100, I think.

      Update: new test from Seattle server:

      dslreports.com speed test result on 2006-07-13 01:56:18 EST:
      768 / 366
      Your download speed : 768 kbps or 96 KB/sec.
      That is 41.1% worse than an average user on hawaiiantel.net

      Your upload speed : 366 kbps or 45.7 KB/sec.
      That is 26.2% worse than an average user on hawaiiantel.net

        Thats the same modem I have Westell 2100, works great for me.
        It looks like, if you haven't, call up Hawaiian Tel and get a trouble
        ticket started as you are not getting your rated speeds.

          Thanks. I'll do that, but if it takes any feedback or plugging/unplugging from me it will have to wait till after the (YIKES) carpet cleaners come tomorrow.

          Update: I was on hold for 20 minutes; called about 9:00pm, and finally gave up. I have better things to do at this hour than hang on to a telephone.

            Thanks! I'm still waiting for their call back. If they don't I'll give a try again tomorrow night.

            SHOULD THE TECH GIVE ME TICKET # ? I DIDN'T GET ONE.

              Were you able to talk to a tech ? or you just are waiting for a tech to call
              you back. As far as I as I can figure, only a tech can give you a trouble ticket #

                I'm beginning to think Hawaiian Telcom should start paying Konaguy for tech support services!

                I guess as HawaiiThreads, and this thread in particular, climbs the search results for "hawaiian telcom dsl," frustrated customers are just as likely to end up here than at Hawaiian Telcom's own site. And obviously, they're "reaching a human" a lot faster here!

                    Well I have big heart and like helping people out (or at least try to help).
                    I've been on the net a long time, over 10 years. So I know the frustration
                    and pain of having to deal with slow speeds. Actually for me, I've gone through
                    worse when I had Road Runner 6 years ago.

                      I had a friend that lives up Makakilo (up the hill from Kapolei) test his DSL connection. Heres his results:

                      :::.. Download Stats ..:::
                      Download Connection is:: 532 Kbps about 0.53 Mbps (tested with 748 kB)
                      Download Speed is:: 65 kB/s
                      Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (Server 2)
                      Test Time:: 2006/07/12 - 9:29pm
                      Bottom Line:: 9X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 15.75 sec
                      Tested from a 748 kB file and took 11.515 seconds to complete
                      Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 27.05 % of your hosts average (hawaiiantel.net)
                      D-Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-ZP3OUVJ4L
                      User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) [!]

                      So maybe its just the distance between our homes and the CO? When using the CO search for my house number, it says that the CO is in Aiea. I remember when Verizon was in control of our DSL service we would get fast speeds because we have a Verizon building in our area.

                      Anyone want to explain to me if my hypothesis is true and if it is true will I be able to reach at least 1mbps like before?
                      I hope to be a Biochemist someday

                        Everytime I've called, I got hold of technician. It is only because I call after midnight when the natural high kicks in.

                        I actually called again and asked for a ticket#. I will call every night until I get what my family pays for.

                          These are the DSL enabled Central Offices on Oahu
                          http://www.dslreports.com/comap/cy/552/

                          If you were getting rated speeds before and not now.
                          Something has changed, from bad DSL filters in your
                          house to something wrong at Central Office.

                          I'd highly recommend anyone doing speed tests to troubleshoot their problems use http://farnsworth.uhnet.net:7123/

                          It will be easier to troubleshoot since the server is located
                          at UH Manoa.

                            I think a better course of action is, as far as I recall you said you have Fujitsu
                            DSL Modem and is disconnects twice a day. I would bypass getting a trouble
                            ticket and request to be reprovisioned from frame to ATM.
