"While we respect the freedom of Hawaiian groups to hold an opinion on the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom"

"Hawaiian Kingdom Government", one of several sovereignty groups in Hawaii, took over Iolani Palace this morning. All gates into the palace are blocked off and locked. From HawaiiReporter developing story.I'm still here. Are you?

Re: Iolani Palace Locked Up to Non-Hawaiians
At least they aren't hurting anyone to try to make a point.
My mom is at work so I just broke the news to her and first words out of her mouth was, "You see any of your crazy cousin's there?" Not that she thinks that those of us who protest things are crazy but there are certainly some people in my family more likely to do so than others.
Mahalo for the pictures and updates.I'm disgusted and repulsed, and I can't look away.

Re: Iolani Palace Locked Up to Non-Hawaiians
They block access to non-Hawaiians, but it's okay for them to use something that was manufactured by the Hillman Group in Cincinnati, OH. I doubt it was a Hawaiian who made that yellow sign.

What would happened if someone tried to actually do their business on the grounds? Like do research at the archive? Would they be prevented from doing so?

Re: Iolani Palace Locked Up to Non-Hawaiians
apparently they are allowing folks onto the grounds who have business to conduct. Angela wouldn't have been allowed in otherwise - she works for the PR firm representing the Palace. The Exec. Director obviously had help writing his statement to the press"Democracy is the only system that persists in asking the powers that be whether they are the powers that ought to be."
