Love the banter here and all in good humour. Susie what are French fries ? Are they those skinny little fried spuds that we call
    Pommes frites?

ps. I also use my bread maker and the same recipe but the dough is best cooked on the griddle. Without my breadmaker, I would be lost. (even made my Christmas cake in it last November.)

The kids rolled out the dough and I fried it in a frying pan, then put a towel over them...as directed.

      Chips. Without malt vinegar.

Would you be willing to share that Christmas cake recipe?

Leftover stir fry from last night. Celery, pea pods, bell pepper, purplots, tomato, orange juice for flavor and spicy tofu I made, oh and instead of
rice local watercress and a big iced tea. Just did my 600 meters and
          I needed some energy back!

                      Attended a baby shower/bbq/potluck/picnic at Ala Moana Park today. Let's see...what didn't I have? That's a much shorter list!

Oh, of course the onions were from Maui!

Purplelots are like green onions but they are this gorgeous purple and the taste is a bit different somewhat sweeter but fabulous. We get them at
the KCC Farmer's Market on Saturdays. They are really pretty!

                              Split pea soup

One kilo of green split peas, rinsed
one big hunk of homemade bacon
                              two onions, chopped
                              four fat carrots, sliced
                              Four celery stalks, leaves included
three cloves of garlic, squished and chopped
                              one sliced leek
                              four bayleaves
                              a pinch of thyme
                              a pinch of ground cloves
                              water to cover all

Crockpotted all night. I even had some for breakfat.

Pease porridge hot, pease porridge cold, pease porridge in the pot, nine days old.

Now I know why the song...one kilo of splitpeas makes a lot of soup. I canned the rest so we DON'T have to eat it for nine days.

What a fab meal. I do it the same Susie. We call the split peas lentils here.
Talking about breakfast,,,,,, your peasoup (peawack) sets and can be spread on bread.
The only difference is that I get a ham shank. Soak it overnight and then cook it into the peawack. The skin from the shank, I cut into strips and deep fry it until I make Pork Scratchings.
