Since sodas are not good for us whether diet or not, best not to partake. But to each his own.
"Many individuals choose to drink diet soda in order to avoid the sugar and calories in regular soda. Drinking diet soda, however, is not a perfect solution.
Diet soda drinkers are still vulnerable to the acidic effects of soda. Furthermore, some artificial sweeteners, commonly used in diet soda, may contribute to serious health issues as well." http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-the...nking-soda.htm
Life is either an adventure... or you're not doing it right!!!
I'll bet being virtually soda-free my entire life has kept me from an otherwise early grave, as I've certainly overdone it with every junk food and sugar/salt product known to man. My doc says I'm shockingly healthy, at least chart wise.
I think soda is too bad for even moderate use, especially from the aspect of starting as a near infant like most people do, it's not just fizzy sugar water.
It should be noted that some of those artificial sweet compounds
can be converted into illegal substances.
There is the well known trick whereby aspartame and gelatine can be
electrolysed to amphetamine out in the garage.
Why is this garbage allowed into our food?
This thread reminded me of the time I was remodeling a home. One workman would bring his under 18 month old baby when he didn't have a sitter. He'd set up a playpen and, to my horror, open a bag from McDonalds, tear a burger and fries into bite size pieces and toss them on the floor of the playpen. Then he'd pour a DIET Coke into a baby bottle. That little guy would walk on, sit on and eat that food. But watching him napping with a bottle of Coke in his mouth was so disconcerting. I offered to swap it out for milk but was turned down.
