While growing up living on Maui the KITCH-N-COOKED brand of Maui potato chips was my favorite.
Now the only one I eat are the Poore Brothers Jalapeno Chips. The problem is they are so expensive and you can hardly fine them on sale. I use to scoop them up when they would go on sale for $0.99-$1.49. But that was ages ago.
Perhaps we'll soon see them on OUR isles' store shelves.
Funny you mention this. The latest snack craze in our office is the Kettle brand Krinkle Cut Salt & Fresh Ground Pepper Potato Chips. Costco sells the huge bag for about $6. It's the most savory potato chip I've ever tried. Like a "potato steak" if you will. Dip 'em in A-1 even. Good stuff. So good, Costco sells out sometimes.

Kitch-N-Cooked used to be my favorite because it was so different from the generic Super Market brands. And it was local. It was made from real potatoes, not extruded ingredients. Since then, there's been a lot more "premium" style chips on the market. My current favorite is Tim's Cascades. I fell in love with it when it was brought back by Washington state co-workers whenever they came back from a visit back home; it was then unavailable in Hawaii. It's only recently that it's been made available locally. My favorites flavors are the regular and the Jalapeno chips. Try it, if you can find it.
Favorite potato chip is like what newspapers matapule read......."all of 'um!" Kay den, stop beating dead pig with lipstick.
Matapule favorite tater chip is Maui sweet onion chips served at Room Without a Key with beverage in hand watching Miss Hawai'i do ta'ulunga as sun set behin' her.
