I consider it a failing on my part. But also on an ENTIRE CULTURE'S part!___

Re: What's for Lunch - Chapter 11
What a Filipino thread back there! But I think this should be a separate thread.
I've never liked Filipino food ... and I feel guilty about that, because I think it's my fault for not trying. The first time I remember eating Filipino food was at a wedding a long, long time ago. It was extremely greasy, and cold, and inedible. It took me a long time to try it again. And it still didn't satisfy. When Golden Coin opened at the Walmart superblock, it was one of the first places I tired. I was so turned off by the service, I never went back. The only thing Filipino I ever liked was lumpia (but who doesn't like lumpia?).
I'm Okinawan, but 20%-30% of my relatives are Filipino, so I am not a stranger to this culture. I may be wrong, but I think in Hawaii, Filipino cuisine is either very good or very bad ... and I've only had the very bad.Last edited by Honoruru; October 4, 2007, 09:53 PM.

Freshly sliced prime rib sandwich, with caramelized onions & garlic/bleu-cheese spread, on a toasted ciabatta roll (from Simon's in downtown Seattle); and Dr. Pepper. Also the company of the lovely Alpha Female.
