we had really cheap but decent dim sum and minute chicken over cake noodle at the golden dragon restaurant in chinatown. all dim sum are either $1.69 or $1.79 each, and among our choices were pan fried turnip cake, bean curd roll, shumai, pork balls, chicken feet, tripe, shrimp dumplings and an order of minute chicken on cake noodle, all enjoyed with the requisite pot of jasmine tea.
but what made this meal memorable was that two of the restaurant staff--chinese women maybe about 40 years old--had an extremely loud argument right in the middle of the restaurant. actually, the loudness was one-sided, because only one of the women was yelling, and the other, who was tending to the sweets cart, answered back in a regular volume of voice. it was so bad that everyone in the restaurant (about 20 people total) stopped eating. finally, after about ten minutes, the other staff members convinced the yelling woman to leave the dining area. it made such an impression that people were chatting across tables, wondering aloud what the argument was about.
"when you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: the people i deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous, and surly..."--meditations, marcus aurelius (make sure you read the rest of the passage, ya lazy wankers!)

Slices from Pizza Hut that was from another office's Halloween luncheon that I stumbled across (which I guess I crashed into), with a bottle of Mountain Dew that I got from the vending machine.
