  • Re: What's for Dinner - Chapter 3

Dinner at Dew Drop Inn Restaurant around the corner from Fujikami Florist was: Hot and Sour Soup, Green Onion Flat Bread, Steamed Chicken Dumplings, and Braised Butterfish in a brown slightly sweet garlic sauce. It was heavenly!

A good friend took me out to dinner as a thank you for watering his plants, and getting his mail while he was away on a business trip.

I wish there were more (good) Northern Chinese and Szchewan Restaurants in Honolulu. Most of the Chinese Restaurants are Cantonese, which to me becomes monotonous at times.

Made some oxtail soup. Husband caught some popa'a, so I filleted and fried with Vinha Dalos seasoning.

After the first dinuguan of this trip (a mini-plate in the Maunakea Marketplace) for lunch, I really yearned for sumpin light for dinner.

So, Palama Mama and I went to People's Cafe for their tripe stew / laulau plate; then we got some tempura maki sushi at Sumo Sushi. Went to Kakaako Park to eat our light dinner.

A nice steak with some soya and a little fresh black pepper, steamed broccoli and ginger rice.
"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers."
