Recently at my workplace Hilo High on the Big Island we had a workshop about what can be said at the workplace and can't(this came about when some football coaches used ethnic slurs at a player). The DOE specialist speaking to the entire staff said comedy like "Frank deLima and the Braddahs" is not funny and hurts people's feeling nowdays. Frank used to deliver messages to Hawaii's school children and meant no racial harm...are we as a society so uptight that we can't take a joke anymore?
I know racial and sexual harrasment in wrong anytime and doesn't belong in the workplace...but in a wonderful place like Hawaii's melting pot can't we laugh at ourselves?
BTW...for you O'ahu people what kind of act does Frank do now?
I miss Booga Booga And Rap.
