Re: Here comes da storm...here comes da storm!

Here in Kalihi, the midnight lightning and thunder were about 30 seconds apart, which I think translates into about 6 miles away. I don't remember ever getting lightning really close by here. Also, we lost power at 7 or 8 this morning for a moment -- long enough to make my router lose its config settings. Had to power-cycle it before I could get back online.

Well here on the east side of the Big Island it's just like Flossie, still and overcast skies. Absolutely no wind with mostly high clouds.

I think I'll go outside and weed wack before the storm hits.

There's a whole bunch of reports at the Advertiser's website, including Breaking News items about which areas are flooding, photos, etc.
Pretty dry here in Kaneohe the past couple of hours, with just a couple of very brief and very light 'blessings'.

            Hurray! Cable came on now!

I sent in my picture with the following caption:

No Cable. Couldn't watch the Game!
            But get Hot Wata! "

out here in Hawaii kai it looks like a new storm is aproaching from the east; or maybe it is the same one coming back! We will walk down the street back home after piano lessons; between the raindrops!!!

For the record, Auntie Lynn w/o the E as I had put in a pm.

Re: Here comes da storm...here comes da storm!

I shut down my computer and unplugged it (even though I have an ups) and all other unnecessary things last night. I do occasionally enjoy a good storm though (storms where no one gets hurt and there's no property damage).

Made the drive from Makaha to Waikiki between 2p and 3p. Not a drop of rain...thank goodness. And I held my breath that the power wouldn't go out while I was schlepping stuff up the elevator from car to condo.

Whoa. Loss of electricity for a bit here in Aiea, wind is picking up but no rain at this point.

We had some power flickers this morning, but things calmed down and stayed mostly dry for much of the day here in Mililani. Until now, that is. Downpours have returned, coming down in waves, in sheets.

It's been dry since 1pm here around the Ala Moana - McCully area. Got lots of dark clouds tho.

Kaneohe -- Actually had almost an hour of partial sunshine around 3pm, along with occasionally strong easterly breezes. But now it's pretty heavy clouds and some passing medium blessings.
KITV news just reported that Marine Corps Base Kaneohe (directly across K-Bay about one-half mile from me) recorded 14.29" of rain in the last 24 hours!
