that i'm an honest and trustworthy fellow .i also urge you to be

    to save me cost .
    Best Regards and God Bless
    Nelson .

    as if.
Oh my goodness! Were you approached by a Nelson Gates by any chance? Here's my response after "Nelson Gates <ng196740(at)gmail.com>" offered pretty much the same thing with extra money and movers....

Cash preferred. It would be great if you can just have your movers bring cash with them. Most reputable movers can invoice you a small amount of cash for anything below $200.

Or, provide the following information for verification purposes before we proceed:

    1. Your phone number.
    2. Your bank name and your account number.
    3. Phone number of your mover's office.
I have not heard from the prospective buyer any more? Was I rude or naive? Nelson said he was going to issue me a "bank certified check" and that he is a very honest person.

Yep, it would've been fun for you, but they certainly didn't sound very professional. Wise decision, MM. I'm sure you'll find other ways to get out on the water!

I've been very busy with caring for a good friend along with the rest of life,
so haven't made it down to Kewalo Boat Harbor to check this out.
But now, I've thought about it and if they're not professional enough to call,
then I'm not interested in working with them. Oh well.

Many years ago I worked as 1st Mate aboard "Captain Bob's Picnic sail" out of He'eia Kea Boat Harbor(Kaneohe Bay).
It'd be fun to do something similar again. We'll see...

I'll take a trip over to the boat soon.

    Why not simply......

NOT give the 'buyer' his goods until AFTER the cheque has cleared? Why not tell the 'buyer' that he'll have to wait until the cash is in hand?

The honest ones would understand, the scammers would go away.

(The second accident was off Maui, not Waikiki. I misspoke in my earlier post.)
In both cases, the masts broke. Both boats had passed their Coast Guard inspections. Just... freak accidents.
I could even go up the mast (in a bosun's chair) and inspect the rigging!
    we'll see...

Yeah, I would be an asset to them and not really doing it for the money.
Just wanna go sailing and a few extra bucks won't hurt.

Just seeing bikini's is good enough. HaHa! Shhh... don't tell Mrs. menehune.

I really think it would just be fun.

I dunno, MM. That "no experience necessary" raises a real red flag, to me. Keep us posted on how it turns out, k?

They say they take "people" out on snorkeling and sailing tours. It's pretty safe to presume those "people" are tourists and that most won't have any boating skills. Even more reason to have experienced crew (like you are, MM).
If they're taking passengers for hire, is the boat Coast Guard certified? (Remember that in the past two years there were two deaths on catamarans operating off Waikiki Beach, and those boats were certified.)

MM, not a surprise. Only a fraction of the posters reply on any CL matters.
