When I first saw this 'invented' Hawaiian-sounding word/phrase, I thought, "How clever!"
As time went on I realized that people were starting to actually take it seriously! I discussed it with a few friends and they said they got the same impression - what was intended as a joke was actually starting to influence behaviour. A case of 'say it enough and you start to believe it.'
No, not everyone who has this 'saying' somehow posted is acting selfish, and perhaps our perceptions of others actions is even affected by seeing them flaunt it... I'm not sure.
Point is, I don't think it's so cute anymore, and worse, I'm starting to judge people unfairly over a stupid window sticker.
Plus, it is about the most 'anti-aloha' thing I've ever heard.
I am glad that people are starting to combat it with "Aikea" - wonder where I can find one.... That's something I can live with.
