You don't have to be in Hawai`i or from Hawai`i to post here at HawaiiThreads.com (which we abbreviate to HT) - just having an interest in anything about Hawai`i makes you welcome.
The "Keiki" designation by your name will eventually change; if you look at the word by other peoples' names, the different ones (like "Kupuna" and "Ali`i") reflect how many messages they have posted.
Feel free to ask the meaning of words you see in postings; you will read many non-English words - some are Hawaiian, others come from the different cultures of the Islands, some are what is known as "Pidgin," a locally-developed patois or unique dialect that has evolved over a number of generations. It can be tricky to understand what people say sometimes, but you might be able to figure it out from the context of the message.
