The family and I are going to Bishop Museum's "Treat Street," an annual tradition there but one we've never participated in before. Anyone else ever gone, or going tonight?

            Close Off Kalakaua for Halloween

Gosh I haven't been to Bishop Museum in ages. I know they're either building or already completed a new theatre complex.

My friend and his GF will be in Lahaina, Maui for the "Mardis Gras on Front St" annual fest. They close off Front Street from end to end for this event. It's almost IMPOSSIBLE to book a hotel or rent a car if you have last-minute plans on visiting Maui around the end of October. I've attended one in 2000. It was O.K., but IMO Waikiki is better.

I don't understand why the City and County of Honolulu doesn't close off Kalakaua Ave. from traffic on Halloween. While there's potential problems of crowd control, the revenue generated from increased visitor counts should more than make up for this. Halloween in Waikiki would become HUGE. $$$$$$$

Kalakaua on Halloween usually picks up full steam around 9pm. It gets even more nuts as the late night crawlers move in. Like after midnight.

I know that Bishop Museum is opening a new exibit on Nov. 19. It is supposed to be a walk-through volcano.

                The latest AC/DC Tribute Band!

Here's a Photoshop'd version of our Halloween office gig today. We took first place!...

Boss on left as Angus Young, Artist on Right as Brian Johnson and yours truly with that rediculous wig as drummer. I look more like Stephen Pearcy from Ratt.

Here's a small video clip. You'll need Quicktime to play it...

Did you go??? What did you wear as a costume??

                  I was a black cat, & had a collar on & a leash,
& my hubby held on to my leash the whole 3 hours
we were out walking (in waikiki).

Hope you had a good one.

                  Aloha.

                    Re: Halloween

Hope everyone went out & celebrated
                    Halloween, too!.

What did everyone wear!. Where did you go?.

My hubby didn't wear any costume, he didn't want to wear one.
That's ok, he just wore black shoes,
black baseball cap, black shorts, & Black shirt on.

As long as he enjoyed holding on to my leash
                    the whole entire time.

I enjoyed looking at everyone's costumes as well!.

I didn't bring my camera, I just got tired of taking pictures!.

For me, it just takes the fun out of things
when I am way too busy with a camera.

So we left around 9:30 pm to have a late dinner.
We both went to that Like Like drive in(restaurant).

Did it use to be a drive in before,
that is why it is called a drive in? & when it actually is a restaurant??

Well, I hope everyone had fun!.

Tell me what you did, where you went,
                    & what you wore, ok?.

                    Thanks.

                    Aloha & God Bless.

It's their new Science Center. A huge facility, compared to the other buildings they've got, dominating the main lawn and overlooking H-1. Special preview for members Nov. 19, I think, with a grand opening to follow soon after.

Yep, they've got a dinosaur exhibit now, a smaller one (compared to the "Sue/T-Rex" one that came through ages ago). I actually used to think their Castle Hall building was too small, and it might be for the bigtraveling science exhibits, but a lot of the ones they've brought in have actually been so diminutive they seem like they're swimming, lost in the building. The current exhibit, I think, only uses the ground floor, for example.

Er... but back to Halloween... we went to Treat Street.

The sky threatened to drench us all night, but apart from a few drizzles, we were spared.

The line was the longest I've ever stood in for years. Treat Street is basically a nice Halloween-themed wooden mural wall (created by UH design/architecture students?) through which candy is dispensed, but the queue weaves back and forth on the lawn before disappearing behind Hawaii Hall, and even looping partway back. Fortunately, it moved relatively fast, and despite the mass of people, cutting incidents were minimal (though I had to stare one down myself). There were a few rides for kids (if you paid extra) and a few food booths, plus contests and some entertainment.

Despite the crowd, and potential for huhu, a fun atmosphere overall, with kids in costumes everywhere. It was interesting, and I'm glad to have finally gone (after 14 or so years)... but we're never going back again, either!

I think the point, actually, is really to have something for kids who don't have places to go Trick or Treating, such as in condos/highrises or less kid-friendly neighborhoods. And on that level, it's great. We're going to stick to our suburbs, though.

Quite the photos. Lots of butt shots. I like the guy who was The Finger, and I see you found two gentlemen giving free mamograms. Such generous spirit. There's this one pic that's focusing on guys in diapers, but it's a crowd and to the left in the picture is this couple hot and heavy suckin' face as though they just met. It must have been wild. Glad I wasn't there!

I think BUTTS was the Waikiki theme last night. Lots of it revealed everywhere. Men and Women, and those you weren't sure what gender they were.

They all walked right by the MANY cops without a problem. I guess as long "things" aren't showing, it's legal.

Everyone was in good spirit though. Didn't see one fight thank goodness (at least where we walked).
