Thongs and Speedos

Since the group is in 'underwear' mode these days (and a lot of those posts fall in the 'too much information' category ), I figured I might as well add this new thread.
My opinion is that there should be a mandatory licensing system in place before folks are allowed to wear thongs or Speedos in public.
Discuss.

My neice came to visit us last summer. She was 16 yrs old, and born/raised in CA.

At the beach, she dropped her surf shorts and had on a thong. After the 30 or so of us relatives picked our jaws off the floor, nearly all of us yelled at her to put her damned shorts back on. Unaminously unacceptable.

Because the thong wasn't... um, complimentary to her body style, or because you were all related to her? That is, would a random passer-by object as strenuously?

I think the former circumstance is what LikaNui is referring to (in this third underwear-esque thread!)... though I have to imagine that if this was the case with your family beach visit, the incident was probably pretty traumatic to your niece!

I think Lika Nui's licensing system is aimed towards Speedo/Thong-wearing FAT, HAIRY, BALD MEN.. a way-too-common visual threat at beaches and swimming pools all around the world.

A true Speedo story!!!

I had a casting session that required men to do the limbo. The wardrobe for the actual commercial would be board shorts so I asked that all men wear board shorts and under those board shorts to please wear either speedo's or briefs because of the camera angle from which I'd be taping! One guy showed up in speedos...only. He even parked probably a block away and walked to my office in a speedo and slippers! I explained the camera angle (low and, ummm, frontal) and asked if he'd rather book a later appt. time and come back with board shorts on. Nope. He was already there and he was ready to go for it. And so he did!

Complete with a system of fines for those without licenses, based on the number of innocent bystanders who will need years of therapy to deal with the horrifying images seared into their memories.

Nope. It's gender-neutral. Or gender-inclusive. Or something. Anyway, my licensing proposal is for both sexes.
