Received this today, had to share..it's quite good...
This came from a friend of my dearly departed, beautiful mother. They were friends for 45 years...what a great reminder!

I've emailed it to myself and will forward it from there to everyone in my address book. Also added the link on my Blog too.

Life is either an adventure... or you're not doing it right!!!

I couldn't resist posting it, I bawled my eyes out! In the last three years, four people in my life have passed away. It really changes your perspective on life, and how you want to live it. It has been a catalyst of my moving to Hawaii. At first, my family, friends and employees were shocked, and tried to change my mind..but..nup! I've always been free-spirited, and when I make a decision, there' s no stopping me!
Becoming the sudden "family matriarch" has been quite an experience! It has given me the deepest appreciation of all the wonderful things my mom did for all of us...and I keep asking myself, "how did she do all this?". She was driven by pure love for our family, that's how. Wow! Now I have an immensely deep understanding...

two quick stories.
1. a dear family friend got sick about 15 years ago. i was living in japan at the time so i didn't get to visit but when i flew through maui, i made it a point to visit her at the hospital. i stepped into the right room but i honestly didn't recognize her. her body had withered to a weak shell of the woman she used to be. to make a long story short, we had a good time talking and before i left, i asked her for some worldly advice. she looked a little sad and said, "do what you can when you have the chance."
2. my dad's pretty old now and he's lost a lot of weight. he's not in pain and is at home but his body is clearly slowing down. one thing i appreciate, though, is that he more frequently encourages me to go out and do stuff cuz "life is too short".
ain't that the truth...
