  • Amazing photos of Indy 500 crash

Anyone who watched the race on Sunday saw that incredible crash with a car hitting the wall around 220mph and going airborne. Check out the 6 photos at http://www.rr.com/sports/indywreckgallery?id=0#gallery .
In the first photo, note the large piece (presumably carbon fiber) of the car's body flying through the air in the top right. When they showed replays from the cameras located behind the drivers on other cars, there was one car right behind the wreck and you can see that piece of wreckage missing the drivers head by less than a foot. Getting hit in the head by a large chunk of carbon fiber at 220mph would've likely meant a decapitation. Like I said...

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I saw that on ESPN, amazing video shots, including shots from other drivers' perspective. And as usual, which always amazes me, the verdict: the driver suffered a broken leg. That's it. He'll survive and race again. Unreal.
