Re: Camping Pololu (Big Islanders)
um.... make sure you bring TP... and everything that you'll need for the weekend....
* Poor swimming and snorkeling
* No facilities
* No lifeguards
* Strenuous hike to beach
* Little, roadside parking available
* Great views of coastline and mountains

Pololu is a popular, yet somewhat remote, destination for campers.
The walk down to the valley floor makes the wonderful views well worthwhile, but the walk up makes you somewhat question your judgment. It is a difficult climb. Be careful of your step, especially if the path is wet.

Re: Camping Pololu (Big Islanders)
I've been down there once back in 1994. It is really beautiful place, but
there is a rip tide at the beach. It is HIGHLY advisable to not go swimming
down at the beach.Also be careful in swiming in any standing water,
as there is leptospirosis possibly.Check out my blog on Kona issues :

Try not to leave your doo-doo & TP everywhere. At the very least bury it deep. I hate the doo-doo everywhere at some of the scenic spots that have no toilets. ie - Cook Monument, Waipio before the PortaPottys, Pine Trees in the old days, yeeecchhhhhh
Then a fly landed on my sandwich.FutureNewsNetwork.com
