Aloha,
I read the thread from the teacher in Korea who wants to come to Hawaii. I have a very similar direction and outlook. There was quite a lot of interesting feedback and information, so I thought I`d post a thread about my situation.
I`m coming to Oahu the week after tomorrow and I`ll start a 2 year Secondary English teacher licensure course at the University of Phoenix. I`ve been teaching English (as a second language) to Japanese junior high school students in Japan for about the last 5 years.
Like the other "coming to Hawaii to become a teacher" post, I know about most of the major challenges in working with the DOE, etc. I`m just going to take the good with the bad, and do the best with what I have to work with. Im sure everyone whose quit after a year has said the same, but Im up for the challenge.
I`d really love to hear advice from anyone who is
a high school/junior high school teacher
knows about University of Phoenix
is in a similar situation to mine or
has any advice at all to offer.
Mahalo,
Barry
