Yesterday morning (5/27/07) 5 of us met at the back of Anolani St. in Niu Valley.
We started walking at 8:15am on a hike that became an epic adventure. Hiking up the East (right) ridge. Talk about leg burning! Very lovely valley. After walking for hours and even climbing up a rope section, we reached the summit at 12:30pm. Wow, the views are incredible up there. That's where we broke for lunch and laughter. Then we crossed over the thin summit trail to the West (Left) and eventually came down the State "Hawaii Loa Trail". Reaching our cars at just past 4pm. What a wonderful day!!!

Kapiʻolani, Queen Consort of Hawaiʻi (1834–1899) formally Esther Julia Kapiʻolani or Esther Julia Kapiʻolani Napelakapuokakaʻe, was married to King David Kalākaua and reigned as Queen Consort of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi. This Statue of her is near at Kapiolani Band Stand.

The funny thing was I didn't plan to have Mauna Loa in the picture .I was taking photos of the new Saddle Road. Mauna Loa sort wedged into the picture

Of course, I suck at taking photos so that never works out for me.

I gotta say I love seeing the faces of those who post on HT. I hope more of you post pictures, if no shy and don't mind sharing your loverly face with everyone.

With that I'll post a picture that I shared at Auntie's hale. I took this picture yesterday night. By the end of the day my hair likes to fight the straightening cream I put in it. It demands to be it's poooofy unruly self and I declare war on it.
