Does meeting porn stars at the now gone Club Wildhorse count?
How about meeting ex-Governor John Waihee in an elevator or Imelda Marcos at the then Holiday Mart?
All of them spend fast money or other people's money like it's going out of style.

This past weekend I went to the Honolulu Festival at the Hawaii Convention Center. It was there where I met Bruddah Wade (Hawaiian 105 KINE) his son goes to the preschool I work at, I also met the Island trio Manoa DNA, and I had the chance to talk stories with them, had them autograph my CD, and took pictures with them.

As for me meeting famous people, see my post #91. Lately though the most famous person I've seen was that guy from LOST who got busted for DUI and apologized for it? I saw him at Home Depot here in Hilo and from the looks of him he wanted to be as inconspicuous as possible.

Decades ago, Billy Davis and Marilyn McCoo (Fifth Dimension) at my friend's jewelry repair shop. Also met Jack and Marie Lord at the same shop.

James McArthur ("Danno") struck up a conversation with me at the Diamond Head Tennis Center while we were watching a local tournament match.

Danny Kaleikini greeted me after a Roy Sakuma Ukulele Festival at the Kapiolani Bandstand, all to the astonishment of my nieces ("Look! Uncle really knows him!"). I had been his guest a couple of times on Danny's radio stint on KGU during the mid-90s.

Rock-n-roll entertainers from my time: the late Teddy Randazzo (he produced the Beamers' "Honolulu City Lights" LP) at a private home in Kaneohe (1997); Neil Sedaka (2005).

              In Honolulu:Adam Sandler,Hulk Hogan,NFL players Barry Sanders,Tim Brown,Desmond Howard,Mike Alstott,Bill Cowher,Jerome Bettis,and Warren Sapp.
I dissed Adam Sandler with his own dialogue from one of his movies.
Me:"Are you Adam Sandler?" Him:"Yea" Me:"Well Whooopdedeedooooo!" Himppff!"(shakes his head in disdain)
I saw Tommy Chong on Little Beach in Maui and offered hom some pakalolo but he declined.
I went to school with Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. We were in the same class.I freaked the first time I saw him on TV.He was least likely to succeed.
In Tokyo I met Herbie Hancock,Chaka Khan and Diane Reeves. She gave my girlfriend free tickets to her show at the Blue Note cafe on christmas. One of the best presents I ever got.

I had a McGarrett moment in '79, when prior to a mid-morning shoot at Honolulu Harbor, comes THE black Marquee onto the piers 6/7 parking lot and directly to me as I finished some work aboard the 160' schooner 'Invader'.
Out pops Jack Lord, totally pimped as the 5-0 icon, with his hand out to me and that killer smile which meant he was into the subject at hand, sailing/boats. After a great few minutes of conversation, we went back to work. Lord was a former Navy man.
If I pay attention and don't blink, I can see myself in a shot, just as they return from commercial.

Whar was the episode? It may be time to use "freeze frame."

A couple of my friends were featured in non-speaking roles in an early episode playing tennis at the Ala Moana makai courts when they were on the UH men's tennis team. They got the standard rate for non-speaking roles and free lunch.

                    Yes, freeze frame!

I always forget the title, but it's the one they use Tommy Kono's yatch - The Royal Prince, MV, with a orange/white striped tent on the stern to accomodate a desert motif. This episode featured sheiks in the plot.

I'm also in a 5-0 crowd scene at Kewalo Basin, in a different episode that I've only seen once.
During the shoot, Lord is perched on top of a tall ladder as director, when an actress blows her line becuse she wasn't paying enuf attention, sending ol' Jack into a very vocal tirade (with a bullhorn) about being professional blah blah. Poor girl shrank smaller than one uku.

                        I met God once.

Well, I didn't exactly meet God. I saw God.

At least, I thought I did.
It was back in my college days, and there was a lot of tequila involved.

                        Never mind.

Actually, I used tequila for medicinal purposes. Once. Seriously. I had a really bad case of the flu a few decades ago, and was laid out at home feeling like death would be welcome. Knocked back an entire pint of tequila in something like half an hour or so. Got hideously drunk and tossed my cookies/drove the ceramic bus/pick your own favorite analogy for puking. Immediately felt better, and the flu was gone!
Come to think of it, I've only had the flu once or twice in the decades since then. Hmmmmm.

Regarding post # 251, I'm a bit surprised that nobody asked me what God looked like.

                              She was beautiful.
