I think you're right Kimo. My husband said nada, no way, ain't no how weeze gonna sit through that. So I guess I'll have to rent it myself when it hits DVD. Love a good belly laugh.

The sight gags in The 40 Year Old Virgin was just as hilarious and the males in the theater was laughing just as hard.

I'm just trying to figure this out. Any help? I mean, I don't like seeing movies that are macho and scary and violent and gory, but is there a male equivalent to the term "chick flick?"

I am having a hard time figuring out what your question is here.

There are "chick flicks" aka Beaches, When Hary Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, etc.

There are "date flicks" which could include 40/yo/virgin or Species, Scream, (theory here is to get them scared and they will jump into your arms...I guess more adolescent "date flick" material) more mature date flicks:
Thomas Crown Affair, The Italian Job, Schindler's List, The Pianist (if you like movies made by child molesters) most comedy's if they don't go overboard on women’s' issues.

And then there are "guy flicks" like Kung Fu movies (excluding Jacky Chan) and the Steven Segal and Jan Michael Vincent elk.

By 'male equivalent to the term "chick flick?"', do you mean not: macho, scary, violent and gory but appeals to guys? Then you are talking about "date flicks" Something a married couple both enjoy.

Some exceptions maybe of a guy flick that isn't a date flick and isn't mindless macho crap is The Man Who Would Be King, The Hunt for Red October, Ice Station Zebra, the originals of The Flight of The Phoenix and Manchurian Candidate. I just saw The Spy Who Came In From The Cold with Richard Burton on cable the other night. These are all macho with a small "m" exploring aspects of manhood, suspense and adventure.
