In the case of "Lilo & Stitch," yes, they did do location research and sketches on Kaua`i.

Yep, there is reference to this in one of the special features of the Lilo & Stitch DVD. Also the Kamehameha School's chorus was used to sing backup on at least the opening titles song and the surfing sequence song.

On another note, thanks to the poster for the link on all of the films made in Hawaii. There were several that I had forgotten about, so I guess I have to revise my list now for a third time (not even realizing this topic was posted long ago before the second one emerged recently and got merged back into the original)....

My favorite made in Hawaii movies

      1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
      2. Jurassic Park
      3. The Final Countdown (forgot all about this underrated sci-fi film)
      4. Tears of the Sun
      5. Hawaii
      6. Tora! Tora! Tora!
      7. Blue Hawaii
      8. Waterworld
      9. Outbreak
      10. Pearl Harbor

And to answer an earlier question, yes I like "Blue Crush" even though it has fallen off my top 10 now.
      I'm still here. Are you?

Yes they are, singing along with kumu hula Mark Keali`i Ho`omalu (who is based in California.) On "Lilo & Stitch 2," there is a song by Dennis & David Kamakahi, called "Always."

Part of 1998's Godzilla was filmed on the windward side of Oahu.

Add the Rundown starring the Rock to the list.
            I loved this film.

My cousin was an extra as a photographer in BLUE CRUSH.

I thought it was an okay film, look at how far Kate Bosworth has come since then she was in the recent SUPERMAN movie and Michele Rodriguez was on LOST last season.

I was an extra in "Escape from Atlantis" filmed on the North Shore, possibly the worse movie made in Hawaii.

I forgot to mention, when I was an extra for Johnny Tsunami, the cameramen went on strike for most of the day :P

                          50 First Dates?
                          I think, right?
                          That was good, either way.
                          It's magic, you know.
