At least Johnny Kai has modified the system so that you can only vote once. In the past it was unlimited, and of course the winners were those who voted for themselves (and had their friends do it too) over and over and over and...
These awards don't carry the weight of the Hoku awards, but at least these are voted by the fans. The Hokus are voted by members of HARA (Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts) and fans only vote for one or two categories.
For those of you voting in this one at the link Ryan gave, I'd like to suggest voting for Kapala in the Contemporary Hawaiian category. Kapala is comprised of our old friend Shawn Ishimoto (formerly known as BB Shawn), plus Zanuck Lindsay and other really hot musicians. This group is awesome. Show 'em some love!
