Re: Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman etc

Saw Martin Denny at the La Mariana Sailing Club restaurant off Sand Island Road several years ago (2003). The place was packed and I got in only because the leader of the local "oldies" rock band on the bill held a place for me.

I went out the next day to pick up his "Exotica" CD.

Kimo, the King Pins play at IGE'S RESTAURANT AND 19TH PUKA in Aiea the first Friday of each month as part of the "Flashback Friday." Wasabi has the second Friday, the rest of the dates are rotated among bands like Royal Kunia Street Band, Beatboys, and Soulz, among others. In addition, the King Pins are booked on certain Saturdays ay IGE'S, In August, they play there on the Friday the 4th and Saturday the 12th. They also play at the Waikiki Yacht Club on occasion. You can check their schedule on their website: www.kingpinshawaii.com

Getting paired with Martin Denny at La Mariana didn't hurt their exposure as the place was packed. In addition to the now-closed Kapono's, they've gigged at Anna Banana's, Eastside Grill, Elks' Lodge, Chez Monique (filling in for Wasabi), and other places.

Only one attorney ..... the bass player. He's good with the audience. The rest are regular folks like us.
