  • Re: Name that song...

So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady, and she said "Oh, it's you."
And we laughed for a moment, and I said I never knew...

Go ahead and sing it for us! No? okay, just the title then.

BTW: I'm fine, don't worry 'bout these last two choices for songs.
Just singing along with the radio.

Okay, let's try this. In the sixties and early seventies there were three songs which received airtime on our local stations (made it into the top 20 countdown) where the name of the song is the same as the name of the group (in some cases, the group's name has an extra "s" o the end). Can you name the three.

One group contained a former actor from a popular TV sitcom. The flip side of the record, by the way, is the song title backwards and the song is played backwards (talk about only having one hit).

One group were the back-up singers for a famous singer late in his career.

The third group has a brassy sound (at least on this record).

Here's an oldie but a goodie that made people on the Mainland want to sway with the coconut trees way back in 1916. Name the song and the performer.

                    "I'm coming back to you
                    My hula lou
                    Beside the sea at Waikiki
                    You'll play for me
                    And once again
You'll sway my heart your way..."

Kimo, you guessed the title correctly, but who actually SANG the song and made it famous? Most people would be amazed when they find out who sang it first.
