Welcome Eric,

Waiks was the first place I lived when I moved here. If you don't mind the hustle bustle it's great for the first time. you're next to everything, and easy to get where you want with the bus.

I like the highrise life myself...

I now live in Kailua, and it's a different kind of great, but still only a 30 min bus ride into town (although i do have a car)
