Waikiki is on the leeward side, and the entire leeward side gets far less rain than the windward side, for obvious reasons.
Rain in Kaneohe is mostly 'blessings' -- light rain and very brief (maybe 5 or 10 minutes), and usually bright sunshine right after.
What we always tell tourists is that if you don't like the weather where you are on the island, just drive a few miles.
