The complexity of election systems is hard to understand within a single nation.
Analysing the closely related systems of a close neighbor and comparing them
thoughtfully is a real challenge.

In a very close race the third party can make all the difference.
Think back to Gore vs Bush.
The Nader vote could have shoved the whole thing this way or that.
Careful backchannels are often involved.

Congratulations to Tunnl! His Wrong Paul candidate slides into a third place finish with 18% of the vote in HI. Looks like just about wraps up the nomination for him!

That’s the spirit, Ron! Clearly matapule is hazy on the goal of Ron Paul, which is not an outright win, but to change people’s minds. Hopefully, by the time the convention hits, Romney will have taken a more libertarian position.

The goal of Ron Paul is to change people’s minds.

And he's been having lots of success lately, in changing their minds towards supporting last gasp Romney, who will say, do, be, anything possible to wildly contort himself into a republican pretzelman who thinks enuf people won't be able to see past their blinding illogical hatred for Obama to not notice or care that he's a pathetic lying coreless fool with the morals of a rabid baboon in raging partisan heat. And that's on a good day.

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul will enter the GOP convention next week with more delegates after a deal was reached avoiding a potentially embarrassing standoff with Mitt Romney.

The compromise settled a dispute over delegates from Louisiana.

“Paul will be awarded 17 of the state’s 46 delegates in the compromise,” Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton told ABC News in an email. “The rest of the state’s delegates are expected to support Mitt Romney, the party’s presumptive nominee.”

Paul already had more than 160 delegates prior to this decision making him third after Romney and Santorum. Suffice to say, Ron Paul peeps will be making a lot of noise at the convention!

I think there is a minority of rednecks who are against Obama because he is half black. In the last election they hardly amounted to a hill of beaners. There are at least as many people who will vote for him BECAUSE he is half black.

I voted for him last time, but not this time. He has not shown me he is capable.
