After all of the horrible, horrible CRAP my ex-husband put me through, the ONLY thing I did in retaliation was dip his toothbrush in the toilet and put it back. Well, he shouldn't have forgotten in when he moved into his girlfriend's house!

TG, I'm sorry. It is hard to get comfort from the very one who caused the hurt in the first place. He does have a good heart, however, and guilt or not, I don't think he would have left you completely stranded. After some time passes and you are able to move on a bit, I think you guys can stay friendly. But Craig does have a point. And, and...I need your address so I can send you the present I got you. (But it's not porn. Sorry.)

DONE!! His stupid stuff that he left here is currently bagged up and sitting on the porch!! I called him to come get it, but he's such a coward, he doesn't answer when I call. So, its not my fault if his stupid toaster, camera battery, artwork, etc...gets rained on tonite. Im not being malicious, Im trying to keep everything high and dry, but the truth is, I JUST DON'T CARE ANYMORE!!! I want him gone. Im feeling better in a brand new way, and he and his dumb stuff are totally insignificant to the rest of my life, as of TONIGHT! YEAH!

At the risk of redundancy, TG, living well is the best revenge. Get out and about and do yourself proud! FBF is a chapter in your life; one you needed to help make you the person you are today. Now you're in a new chapter with new lessons...not only lessons to learn but ones to teach, as well. Sounds like you're on the right track.

Your experience brought back the memory of when I, too, bagged up the rest of my ex's clothes after repeated requests to move them. So, I carefully folded everything and placed the clothes in a double 33 gallon trash bag, secured it so no water or insects would get in then placed it on the back porch where no one could see it and steal it. When we got to divorce court he testified that I'd thrown his clothes outside and they were a mess when he picked them up. That's when I brought out the the dated photos that I'd taken every step of the packing process! He also testified that I'd intentionally soiled our white sofa right before he moved it. I brought out more dated photos showing very little wear and tear on a 5 year old white sofa and how it looked AFTER I'd had it cleaned...along with the cleaning receipt from the day before he picked it up! That's when I knew that taking the high road really paid off. I had proof. It made for a really great healing moment!

I am now a brand new independant woman!!! It feels so good to be rid of his stuff, and his nagging, and get my key back, and pay my rent, and do my laundry, and really feel free to do whatever I want around here! I don't know how to explain it!! Relieved? Confident? Whatever, I feel great, and even my local grocer noticed! He told me "today is the first day of the rest of your life, eh?" and I almost choked on my chewing gum! YAY new (old) place! So much closet space! So many drawers to fill!

THAT is exactly what I thought when I saw the key comment. Definitely
get a new lock!

Are all the utilities now in your name only or were they to begin with?
You don't want him on them anymore if he was.

also - is your lease in both your names, including the security deposit? if so, that is something else you need to take care of possibly by signing a new lease and paying your own security deposit or reimbursing him for his half if that is the case. Legally, when you move out - the deposit goes back to whoever's name is on the lease. Even though you may have a nice landlord - don't take any chances. This can really screw up your life - been there, done that.

I was thinking the same thing when I posted but didn't want to bog down with so many details! You are absolutely right on the lease thing, phone, every possible thing needs to be double checked. Credit scores and such are important and this could screw them all up.
