    Re: Cancer

Just what I didn't want to hear...
THURSDAY, Oct. 12 (HealthDay News) -- While smoking is far and away the biggest risk factor for lung cancer, having a close relative who has been diagnosed with the disease nearly doubles your risk of developing the deadly disease....

      Happy Anniversary Chemotherapy!
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the first report of a trial of cancer chemotherapy, an event closely related to the development of chemical poisons for use in warfare. Clinical investigators were able to derive some good for mankind from the agony and pain resulting from chemical agents created primarily to destroy humans.

In 1946, Goodman and colleagues described how they (all leaders in pharmacology and hematology) had joined in a war-time study of the effects of poison gas on lymphomas. Their findings had not been made public earlier because of the cloak of secrecy in World War II...
      Interesting finding this out now!

Have her try herbal supplements and natural remedies in addition to what her doctor suggests. Google the following:

        Neem
        Curcumin
        Colloidal Silver

        Hope everything works out okay.

          Thanks for your concern Senora.

Just found some more interesting stuff regarding kidney cancer.
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - A diet high in refined cereals, and bread in particular, is associated with an elevated risk of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), the main type of kidney cancer, according to a study in Italy...

Before doing that, you should be absolutely sure that you check with your doctor or pharmacist to find out if the supplements are safe for the individual (given his/her particular medical conditions), if they are safe in combination with other medications and what possible side effects they might cause. Supplements aren't safe just because they're "natural." Be very careful.

              Re: Cancer

(AP) -- A controversial new study offers the strongest evidence yet that screening smokers for lung cancer with computerized chest scans can save lives, much as mammograms do for women with breast cancer.

Early screening is always a good way of detecting early forms of cancer with all forms of cancer.

                Maddie is right.

I have seen horrific adverse reactions from "all-natural herbal remedies," from permanent nerve damage to death.

I've seen patients' families INSIST that we continue giving these "remedies" to their very ill loved ones, even after we've explained that these "cures" are contributing to the illness.

They can be disastrous to your health, especially if you already have kidney or liver damage.

Great... something else to worry about... well not for me... but for women.
Eating red meat may raise a woman's risk of a common type of breast cancer, and vitamin supplements will do little if anything to protect her heart, two new studies suggest.......
