Internet food porn is good for the soul...it adds a bit of spice to the sauce.

No ! mais non. There is no reason for jealousy. I don't eat this food every day. I share these recipes with Susie and Everybody because I was brought up in a poor part of France.
We had to eat what was going and for me on the North Coast, it was mostly sea food.
Kelp is a seaweed which we either dried on the washing lines or boiled to make a jelly soup. Obviously, there is no reason to be jealous over this. ?

Seaweed makes lovely sushi. And little crumbled bits of it mixed with toasted sesame seeds are delicious on rice. Seaweed wrapped around shoyu-coated crackers sticks to your tongue.

tried a recipe from a new crock pot cookbook - Chicken with Basil Cream Sauce. It's made with boneless, skinless chicken breasts, store made Alfredo Sauce and Pesto Sauce. Served with rice with the sauce spooned over all. It was DELICIOUS! and I even have some leftovers

                On the menu last night:
Crispy pork won ton with wasabi shoyu,
                Mixed greens with papaya dressing,
                Fresh fruit platter,
                Marinated artichoke hearts,
                Steamed rice,
                Herb roasted red potatoes,
                Seasonal vegetables,
Pepper seared pork loin with shitake mushroom gravy,
                Prime rib, and
Mango coconut cake and triple chocolate mousse cake.

It was a banquet at Kaneohe Yacht Club, catered by Kyung Botticello of Naupaka Caterers, who I'd highly recommend for your next special event. Delicious!
                .
                .

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

                      Sure - here it is:

                      1 1/2 to 3 1/2 quart crockpot

Serves 2 (but you can double or whatever to increase the servings)

                      2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
salt & pepper to taste ( I also added some Herbs de Provence)
1 cup Alfredo Sauce (I used Classico brand)
3 to 4 TB Pesto Sauce (I used whatever Foodland had on the shelf & used the whole container which was about 3/4 cup)

Cook 2 1/2 to 3 hrs on High until chicken is done.

Serve with pasta or rice (I cooked rice).

The recipe said that dairy products do NOT work in a crock pot because they tend to break up. I've learned that is true from making cream sauces on the stove- cook too long and it just turns into globs. But the Alfredo Sauce would hold up to the long cooking. The juice from the chicken mixed in and made a very good gravy. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was and will definitely cook it again.

The cookbook is called "Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Recipes for Two". My next attempt will be Short Ribs with Cabernet & Apricots.

Thanks. I'll have to figure out an alternative to the bottled sauce, as I'm not sure it can be found over here. The cookbook sounds interesting.

We will be having bean soup, my favorite from, 'Fast Vegetarian Feasts', by Martha Rose Shulmann...

Elegant pressure cooked white bean soup.

                        2 cups dried white beans
                        I onion, chopped
                        4 cloves of garic, minced
                        8 cups water
                        3 vegetable bouillon cubes
                        1 large bayleaf
                        2 sprigs fresh parsley

                        salt, pepper, milk (optional)

Put everything except the salt, pepper, and milk into a pressure cooker and whap it at 15 pounds for 45 minutes. Discard bay and parsley, pureé or mash, add salt and pepper and lemon-herb butter and milk to thin, serve with croutons.

                        Lemon-herb butter

Mash together 4 tablespoons of butter with 1 garlic clove, 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley, and the juice of a lemon.

PS Do you fry the chicken breasts or just toss them in with the sauces?

just rinse, pat dry & season. Spray the cooker with Pam or whatever you have (just don't use goose fat ). Place chicken in cooker. Mix sauces together & pour over the top of the chicken & cover the pot. Mine cooked on high at just under 3 hrs - I was a good little girl & did not lift the lid on the pot til the end when it was done.

If there is an Italian restaurant anyplace close to you - you could probably buy some of their Alfredo & pesto sauces. Otherwise, you might have a problem if the grocer doesn't sell any Italian sauces for topping pasta. or, maybe you could mail order some?
