Re: Stories of good Haoles of HI

    A few things . . . .

Harpoon, A little short sighted/narrow minded, don't you think ?

I am a haole - but I will admit that when I'm on my way to Waikiki to sell sell sell and I get stuck behind some tourist who can't stop looking at the harbor or anything but the road, I think to myself, "idiot haole!" And then I remember where I'm lucky enough to live and just deal with it.

I cannot give you any "Stories of being a Good Haole" about me. I'm rotten to the core.

Interesting sort of off topic, I've heard another "definition" of haole from a Hawai'ian. Her explanation was the while the literal translation is without breath, she adamatly (sp?) understood it to be "foreign breath," i.e. no speaka da language.

    See ya.
    Steverino.

I don't think there is good and bad haole's... it's ridiculous... I'm a Haole and I'm married to a Hawaiian... there are stories of good and bad Hawaiians too... sheesh in my own family less yet!

This is an example of a haole that came to Hawaii... and was asked to come here by Hawaiian people to help share medical advice.

Did you know up until the early 1970's there was very few Licensed Doctors in Hawaii that were of Hawaiian Descent?

He was asked to come here and help the early Pahala farmers back in the sixties... Yes he's my grandfather!

Yes I'm proud... and yeah... I'm hapa haole !

'Haole' is just a frame of mind. As is the term, 'frikken Haole'.
