i'll post my pet peeve with the caveat that it's not for the day, but for the morning. it's only 11:20am. i'm sure once the beau and i get out on the road, other pet peeves will reveal themselves whether i want them to or not.

anyway, i hate drying myself from an invigorating shower and discovering, despite what i thought was a meticulous, multi-directional armpit shave job, ONE lone palm tree of an armpit hair stubble in the middle of smoothly-shaven landscape. what the heck? did that one hair develop some sort of anti-razor shielding??!! did it bend over backwards, ala neo in matrix??!! i had to pluck the sucker out, it incensed me so.

I hate "planned breaks". I'm the person who will take breaks when he's tired and for lunch, but never because 'I'm scheduled to'. My coworkers took all of their breaks even though the inside carts bin was almost empty! It was so busy, I brought in a cart line and almost filled it up, but when I came back with another cart line, it was almost empty again (less than 10 carts). I know Saturdays are busy, but damn.

Oh, and to the customers: Please lower down your car stereo's volume! I don't want to hear "this is why I'm hot" 5 times in a minute.

I hate it when workers act like the police: there's no help when you need them, but when you don't, they're swarming all over like a closing dunkin' donuts shop. This evening, I was caught in the rain a few times, so I caught the cold. Long story short, the manager had to literally escort me out of the store to go home. As I drove pass the front of the store to bid farewell for the night, I saw five other associates about to leave to collect the carts I managed to line up - FIVE that wasn't there when I needed help! If I didn't have bodyache, then I would have parked and joined them.

I can look at it this way: either they didn't like to "play" in the rain (the clouds has cleared enough for me to see the stars) or they had to bring out those five other people to replace me.

I hate those alarms that honks to confirm its armed! What usually gets me is when there's 4 or 5 people arming their car (or what seems so) because I hear one honk after the other (more like a beep than anything else); or when I'm driving and I hear a honk, I stop instantly.

Adrian, do you get a day off soon? You really need some personal down time, cause you are stressing over way too many little things (of course, that is the definition of a "peeve," I suppose.)

But dude...51 of the 276 posts (to date) are from you; granted, some are just discussion and comment on other posts - but others are MULTIPLE peeves.

You just started a new job not long ago - and it seems that so many aspects of the job upset you - what does that tell you?

Leo Lakio just wrote exactly what I was thinking. Although I was going to write that "people who have daily pet peeves are my pet peeve".
Life's too short to worry about the manini stuff, Adrian. Ya gotta choose your battles. Worry about the big stuff. Let the small stuff just roll off your shoulders. Cuz as you get older, you'll find more and more and more of the manini stuff.
And the manini stuff just... doesn't... matter.
Do some volunteer work to help others who are less fortunate than you. That'll accomplish two important things: 1) it will take your mind off your own troubles, and 2) it will make you realize just how good you actually have it, my friend.
                  .
                  .

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

If I was so pissed off at that job, I wouldn't be posting about it - I'd quit already. This offers me a way to vent and possibly prevent me from going postal on my coworkers or even on the customers.

Plus, some of those posts aren't even about the walmart job.

                    Today's pet peeve:
I hate it when they fill up a cup half way with ice and fills the rest with the drink.

Isn't "hate" a rather strong word for such a minor thing?
Adrian, please re-read post #278 above, k? And let's try this idea -- every time you post a 'peeve' here, how about also posting something good that happened that same day?
I can't imagine how you get along with so much negativity every day, but I sure do wish you well.

when my mother in law tells me to divorce my husband, because she would like him to move back in with her...can you say CUT the umbilical cord already??!

There are rare circumstances where the five-letter word that begins with "b" and rhymes with "twitch" applies. You may have just described one, Blue.

High 5, LN. I had a roommate who, every day when she got home from work, would blast thru the door ranting about everything that went wrong that day. No "hi", just paragraphs of rants. I finally sat her down and offered a compromise...if she would come thru the door and tell me 3 positive things about her day I would willingly listen to everything negative no matter how long the list. She couldn't do it, even when I cut her off with a reminder. It just wasn't part of her nature. I just can't imagine living like that. She's still like that and as much as I value her friendship, I now take her in very small doses...maybe 3-4 times a year. And, each of those get togethers begins with a lengthy rant. I now tune her out.

Adrian, LN and the others are right. Don't sweat the small stuff 'cuz, at your tender age, you ain't seen nuthin' yet!!! And maybe even archive this thread so that in 30-40 years, when you've experienced some of what life can hand you, you can look back on it and, hopefully, laugh!

A result of my McD's drive thru experience today...
I'd really like to catch the idjits who rip off the Ronald McDonald House donation boxes outside the McDonald's drive thru windows. And, if I can't catch 'em, I'd like to be a fly on the wall when Karma comes along and whops 'em upside the head. What low lifes. I can't imagine McDs staff leaves money in the boxes overnight but I can see how the boxes might be overlooked. Still...

Now, that is something legitimate to be peeved about. (See, Adrian?)
And as much as I feel sorry for the family of the victims, I'm peeved at that guy this morning who crashed his car near the Hygenic Store in Kahalu`u, killing himself and his 9-month-old son. At 8:30 in the morning he was driving 80 to 100mph... in a 35mph zone.
Lost control, hit a power pole, sliced the car clean in half and the pieces were 75' apart from each other. DAMN.
If some idiot wants to commit suicide by speed, go ahead. But risking the life of a baby too?
