Yes and when this case explodes into a full blown 3 ring circus on Tuesday I wonder what joshuatree will say then?

Instead of waiting for "my turn", how about simply answering the question, what new planes? I really would like to know what AQ thinks is the appropriate equipment for interisland flights.
How do all the recent articles in the newspaper about this trial possibly taking a criminal turn and the upcoming trial on Tuesday make Aloha's fleet the center of discussion? I wouldn't care if Aloha was still flying DC3's!

I want to hear the DIRT on Murnane and Ornstein.

What are you expecting me to say? You still don't know where I stand with Mesa?

Because Anon brought up that AQ will be getting new planes. Again, thread title includes everything interisland airline related. You'll get your dirt, don't worry, just be aware other people may discuss about other interisland airline related stuff too.

Yes but what are the number of cycles on AA's MD80s? If you want to go for oldest, NWA takes the cake with their DC9s, close to 40 years I believe. But it's the number of landing cycles that really matters.

The average age of American's MD80/90 fleet is 17.7 years, according to this inventory.

AQ does have some old birds flying interisland and IMO That maybe the reason for a decline in traffic. Don`t get me wrong Aloha is a very good Airline, but it`s always the waiting game before they get with the program.
HAL at one time got the taste of Aloha knocking at there gates.
But they went on to become a major airline in Hawaii, even giving UAL a run for Hawaii`s breadfruit.
If AQ does something about upgrading its fleet I think CAN! I also saw them checking out the new jet on alohaohana. I hope the upstairs guys (The ones calling the shot) Hurry up.
We all depend on air travel no matter what! Aloha Airlines does a dam gooodd job serving the poeple of Hawaii. Just gotta upgrade your interisland fleet....

Thanks OGGBOY! I agree for the public perception alone, Aloha needs some new metal. Never mind the fact that I think they have finally exhausted the worlds supply of low cycle 737-200's.

Those old airplanes are reliable as dirt though. I sure am going to miss them.

Joshua, all I have for you is rumors. The big one is that while AQ maintenance wants 737-500's, Yucaipa wants the E190's so that might be what we soon see out here. Unfortunately with all of Aloha's exposure to the inter-island blood bath Aloha can not get any outside financing on anything with all the red ink on the books so here we wait for go! to be gone!

For anything more concrete you'll need to ask Mr Banmiller.

If AQ goes with the E-190s, they'd be flying in very good company. Check out the firm orders that are on the books for the 2nd Q for Embraer (see pg. 2 of the report). Their backlog is huge. Jet Blue just bought a bunch of E-190s.

I can see maintenance wanting 735s to keep fleet commonality. But then, don't they use the same CFM engines as the 734s? I thought they weren't suited to the high cycling of inter island ops?

The E190s would seem to suit well as the seating capacity is roughly identical to the 732s. If they are ordered with PTVs, I can see AQ offering a superior product in the market.

It would be kind of funny that if AQ got the E190s, they'd have 2 - 2 seating similar to Go's RJ 200. Boeing pretty much gave up the small jet market after they stopped making the Boeing 717 last year.
                    I'm still here. Are you?

Actually the sub 100 seating market looks like it will heat up in the near future. Bombardier is working on the C Series to step up the competition against Embraer. Boeing indirectly is competing by being a major subcontractor to the Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 due in 2008. And then the Chinese have the ARJ-21. That also has major American subcontracting going on as GE and Rockwell Collins are involved. I'm pretty sure these two will offer prices much cheaper so it will be interesting.

                        Aloha Kakahiaka!

                        In this mornings Advertiser...

Mesa could be driven into Bankruptcy with Hawaiian's lawsuit.

Scott Hamilton, a Washington state-based aviation industry consultant, believes Hawaiian's lawsuit could drive go! out of the local market. He noted that Mesa is financially vulnerable these days as its balances have dwindled by about $100 million to $245 million since the start-up of go!

"When you consider the declining cash balance of Mesa since they started go!, I could see a scenario where the damages could equal their cash flow," said Hamilton. "In the worst case scenario ... it could drive them into bankruptcy."

Hawaiian has not publicly stated the amount of damages that it has suffered as a result of the alleged misuse of confidential data. But the company has retained a Mainland airline industry consultant Samuel Engel of New York-based Simat, Helliesen & Eichner Inc., who has calculated the amount of losses Hawaiian said its suffered as a result of the alleged misuse of corporate data.

Hamilton believes that Mesa faces considerable obstacles given Faris' previous findings against the airline.

                        'TROUBLING' TESTIMONY
In an Oct. 26, 2006, ruling, Faris rejected Hawaiian's call for a one-year ban against Mesa for operating interisland flights but not before saying that Mesa "probably breached the confidentiality agreement by failing timely to return or destroy the evaluation material."

Faris singled out Murnane for a "cavalier" treatment of the confidential data and called Murnane's testimony "self-contradictory and "troubling" and said that Murnane made false statements under oath.

The judge cited a May 2005 e-mail in which Murnane discussed giving then-bankrupt Aloha Airlines "a last push" to drive it out of business.

"I think this is a real black cloud for Mesa as the trial moves forward," Hamilton said.
And this article doesn't even consider Aloha's lawsuit which is a much stronger case as it has been already proven Aloha is the company Mesa was targeting.

USA Today, CNN, Forbes, Wall Street Journal, PBN all have run the same PR wire story about Murnane deleting files and perjuring himself last year.

The Arizona Republic wrote their own story with a slightly different twist.

Mesa (Nasdaq) down to $4.76 today.

Tomorrow morning the bull$h!t finally walks.

Hey so anybody in Hilo hear about Hilo Police being called out to the airport because 100 go! passengers were stranded and on the verge of a riot? I heard the go! kiosks were kicked over and a bomb threat was made. One of the stranded passengers ran off and hid in the parking lot when the cops came. All this because go! cancelld all their evening Hilo flights.

Very reliable source told me this. She saw the whole thing go down from the terminal area. I cant find anything in the news about it.
