The texture of the canvas works well with the doggy's fur. Have fun tweaking

            Thanks!

Fractals are like basket weaving therapy for me. Half the time I don't keep the things I make, just watch the patterns form and move on to the next pretty thing.

My favorite is the Ball O' Music!

Um, I'm wondering, what's a fractal and how do you do it?

These are what's considered fractal flames.

Fractals are mathamatical equasions that assign colors to certain numbers or sets of numbers.

                http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractal

I did them in a free program called Apophysis (a PC based program) or one of it's variations.

                First download the base program:

                http://www.apophysis.org/

Then make a folder for the updated .exe versions, one each for 2.08 and for the 3D hack since the 3D hack version has a limit on the plugins it can use (I believe it's something like 26 or 27 in the folder at a time), you need to have seperate plugin folders for each. 2.08 beta 2 took care of the limitation, the base doesn't handle plugins at all so one isn't needed for that one. Later as new plugins come out, add them in one at a time. If Apop throws up an error it's most likely an incompatable plugin or a duplicate of one in there already but under a different name.

                Apophysis plugins

Apophysis resources...gradient packs, scripts, flame packs and tutorials

                http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/fractal/

                Here's one basic beginners tutorial:

                http://sfinxmagnum.deviantart.com/ar...orial-79519204

shortgreenpig is the person I got the tutorial from to make the Ball O' music fractal:

There are other free fractal programs out there and a few pay for programs like Ultra Fractal if you decide you like them enough to lay out cash.
