In the words of Michael Jackson, "Iʻll be there, Iʻll be there. Just look over your shoulder, honey, and Iʻll be there."
Anybody else? Iʻll be the guy in the dark suit and tie, maybe sunglasses.

Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you

Re: Na Hoku Hanohano Awards Tonight
I'm getting sooooo tired of seeing only "Technical difficulties - please stand by!"
Started okay, except the audio for The Caz' opening medley was horrible. The screen went black for a few minutes, came back for a few, froze on one distorted image, and has been blank now for at least half an hour. Still get audio, but.
Major bummer..

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Howard Dashefsky just did a cut-in, apologizing for the problems with the fiber-optic cables. He said they're taping the whole thing and will re-broadcast it Saturday night at 10:30pm..

My crystal ball was sure working that day. Six awards for him last night.
Glad to see John Cruz win again, but sorry our own Jamie didn't score..

I was posting award results straight to Twitter (much to the relief of Keola Donaghy in New Zealand, who was struggling with the web streaming), and posting photos straight to Flickr.
The sound inside the ballroom was great, but I heard things in TV land weren't very rosy. Major outages and constant technical glitches. I know they rebroadcast the whole thing right after it ended live, but I'm wondering if the rebroadcast included the botched parts or not. The official site has an apology front and center -- and states there'll be another rebroadcast on Saturday.
Hoku Zuttermeister had a big, big night... he was running out of people to thank after so many trips to the podium. The tribute to Auntie Genoa Keawe was wonderful, notably the performance of granddaughter Pomaika'i Keawe Lyman. Cindy Kauanui's acceptance on behalf of Nigel and in memory of Emery was moving. John Cruz gave an electrifying performance.
The presenters had some memorable moments, too... from Frank B. Shaner hamming it up and announcing a fake winner, to Karen Keawehawaii getting so into having her granddaughter with her on stage that she kinda forgot to let Auntie Maria say anything.
It was entertaining to see the back corner of the ballroom get drunker and rowdier as the evening progressed. It was odd to feel the tension whoosh out of the room when the final Best Album of the Year was announced, and to see Raiatea Helm whoosh out of the room just as all the other nominees and musicians were called to the stage for the closing "Hawaii Aloha."
We had a great time... due in no small part to zztype (who laughed and smiled and gave us lei!) and Pua'i Mana'o (who can seriously wala'au). It was our first Hoku Awards, and just about the fanciest event we've attended in years.
