Re: Top 10 Albums of all-time...

Is anyone noticing a pattern here? I swear I could guess the ages of the participants solely on the albums selected.

Re: Top 10 Albums of all-time...

      I just realized ...

My mind blotted out the "of all time ..." in the subject title, and I went on automatic to post my desert island discs.

Because that kind of list would need to include Marvin Gaye's What's Going On, Nirvana's Nevermind, Henryk Gorecki's Symphony No. 3, N.W.A.'s Straight Outta Compton ...

Re: Top 10 Albums of all-time...

My favs would include, oh no, do I have to have the proper names of single CDs? Moody Blues anthology, yes! Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, the early stuff especially, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foreigner, and Kansas, man they are my religious rock, and then the Country and Western of the seventies! Then there's the Colours CD by Na Leo Pilimehana, can't hear most of the songs on there enough. Iz, the CD where he is in a pool on the cover, have that one and play it a lot, and I have a new Weldon Kekauoha CD, and saw them play live and they were so much fun.

Music...a variety, one for every mood or situation. I need the Skynyrd and Kansas to exercise to. Glad someone started this thread, and yes, I am 47 and a half. (G)

Re: Top 10 Albums of all-time...

I like some of the ones you have listed, Melorama, but not to familiar with the other ones. Sorry.

I probably would have to go with easTTriver's list. I can relate to most of them.
I grew with those list of music that easTTriver have.
                      Those are cool music.
That is something I don't mind listening to at all.

Re: Top 10 Albums of all-time...

I wasn't sure where else to post this ...

I feel like I got a STEAL yesterday. A few of 'em, actually, before I stopped myself from spending even more.

First off, I must say that I'm a big supporter of Hungry Ear Records in Kailua, where I prefer to shop for new or gently used CDs.

However, I was shopping in TOWN yesterday -- twins had birthday money burning holes in pockets, so we went to Wal-Mart so they could look at video games. This left mommy dangerously unsupervised in the music section.

The spree made me feel as if I was spending money like a drunken sailor (or soldier, or dentist, etc.).

I got a Led Zep, enhanced (with video) 2 CD set with titled "Early Days & Latter Days," 23 tracks from "Black Dog" and "Immigrant Song," my first favorite tunes from the band, all the way through the 1970s to the In Through the Out Door LP. It's been out for years, but I'd never seen it -- and I got it for $15.88! Unreal.
I replaced my scratched and skipping "Classic Queen" CD (blue cover) for $9.72; I got an Aerosmith "Greatest Hits" (containing songs that have somehow escaped my collection) and a "Best of the Scorpions" CD for $7.50 each. It's one of those 20th Century Masters releases. I thought the "Will Smith Greatest Hits" CD at $12.88 was a good deal too, as my kids join me as big Will Smith fans.

More music to cook (or post to HT) by -- woo hoo!
                            **************************************
I know a lot less than what there is to be known.

WalMart is a good place for selected bargain CDs. Sometimes they even have new, current titles on sale for $9.72. The last one I bought at that price was the new album by Jewel Goodbye Alice in Wonderland. Oldies abound for as low as $4.50, though normally around $7.50 to $9.72. Just recently upgraded my Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy with a new CD. My LP is fine, but CD is much more convenient, plus I could burn the tracks to my Mac and iPod. I saw Led Zeppelin II and one of the very first Rolling Stones compilation CDs on sale at WalMart for $9.72. I passed those up because I already own them on CD. Still WalMart is a good place to go for some bargain priced, new CDs.

For used CDs, I usually go to Jelly's.
                              I'm still here. Are you?
