    20th Century — Shaw

"...the human fact remains that the burning of Joan of Arc was a horror, and that a historian who would defend it would defend anything. The final criticism of its physical side is implied in refusal of the Marquesas islanders to be persuaded that the English did not eat Joan. Why, they ask, should anyone take the trouble to roast a human being except with that object? They cannot conceive its being a pleasure. As we have no answer for them that is not shameful to us, let us blush for our more complicated and pretentious savagery..."
    ---St Joan (Preface)

We were born with two ears but only one mouth. Some people say that's
because we're supposed to spend twice as much time listening as
talking. Others claim it's because listening is twice as hard.

Considering the large size of your butt and the small size of your nose, why is toilet paper so small and kleenex so large?
(From an old George Carlin routine. Anyone know exactly how he phrased that one?)

Isn't "panty" the singular of "panties"? It's "pants" that has always made me shrug my shoulders.

Oh, yeah, favorite quotes. Um. "I don't know chaos theory, but I've sure got the practice."

No. I just now looked in Webster's and the word "panty" isn't even listed.
Women don't say "I'm gonna put on my panty" do they? Nope. They'd say "I'm gonna put on my panties."
And since we're on the subject, how come they usually say they're putting on a pair of panties? What, gotta wear two?!?

Well, we do say "a pair of pants," and each individual leg is a "pant" leg, but you only need a single "panty" liner (sometimes) at a time - if it's a "pair of panties," shouldn't you need a "panties" liner?

Don't think about it too much, or you might end up running with a scissor.
