JY was there and did a hellava job. Most of the concert was a five piece but at times they had a six piece. The sixth member was the original bass player Chuck Panozzo. Lawrence Gowan did a good job replacing Dennis DeYoung.
Current line up of Styx is James "J.Y." Young, Tommy Shaw, Todd Sucherman, Lawrence Gowan, Ricky Phillips, Chuck Panozzo
JY looks better today than he did 25 years ago. I knew they wouldn't play "Mr. Roboto", "Don't Let it End", and "Babe". But I thought they would do one of my favorites, "Best of Times".
Overall, a great concert, they seem to really enjoy playing in front of the crowd and not phoning it in like some old school bands do at times.
It was nice to see Panozzo, not sure if he tours with them regularly.
Styx was my hometown band and always proud of their accomplishments, I wish one day DeYoung and the band can settle their differences and tour together.
The Honolulu Symphony Pops should try and get DeYoung for a show one year.
Thanks for the vids! Yer right it was a great concert! Initially I thought we had seats back of the balcony but actually it was on the floor about half back.
Fooling Yourself... I remember that was the song they played when Chuck Panozzo came on. What was up with that? Did he miss the wake up call? haha
That was the first time I've been to a rock concert at the Blaisdell Hall. I thought they would tell everyone to remain seated or something. We stood up most of the two-hour set.
Did you get a vid of "I Am the Walrus"? That was sweet too.
Also, thought the dude did a decent job covering DDeYoung too.
I'll try to remember what songs they played but it's not in any particular order.
