I find it somewhat paradoxical that people can get so upset about a supposed "fix" in the results for American Idol when no one gives a rat's patootie about voting irregularities in national or local elections which determine the direction the country is headed.

Chris will do just fine not being the winner of Idol 5.

Wish I could say the same about our country after the rigged elections in Ohio last year and in 2000.

Frankly for me, American Idol has become that abusive spouse whom I can't leave, no matter how much I get injured.

Oh, how I can't wait to watch next week. Bring on terrible TV at its best.

NEW YORK (AP) - Simon Cowell predicts that the gray-haired Taylor Hicks will be the next "American Idol."

"I'm going to say he's the favorite, but what do I know?" the "Idol" judge told Jay Leno on NBC's "Tonight Show" on Monday.

I hope it's true because Taylor's the only one I would buy and CD from.
BTW.... here's his song choices tonight:

1 - Try A Little Tenderness (Taylor's choice) - Otis Redding

2 - You Are So Beautiful (Randy's choice) - Joe Cocker

3 - Dancing In The Dark (Clive's choice) - Bruce Springsteen

What was everyone's thoughts on Idol tonight?

Taylor had an EXCELLENT night I think. Dancing In The Dark is one of my favorite Bruce songs so I was really excited about that.

Kat had a amazing second song.

I actually liked Elliott's first and second songs enough. Third didn't quite do it for me.

I thought "Dancing in the Dark" was a great song choice by Clive for Taylor. It really fit his voice. Of course that Joe Cocker song also fit his voice perfectly--although I was looking forward to Taylor doing what Joe Cocker did at the end of the song where he sings that high note and his voice cracks.

I really like Elliott's voice, but tonight his voice sounded a bit off key on all of the songs.

I thought Kat did an amazing job with "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." WOW! It was an excellent stage presentation, even if it did borrow from Fantasia's "Summertime" performance in the 3rd season. I also loved her final song and was surprised the judges didn't.

Here's how the 3 are doing in tonight's voting--from DIALIDOL.COM:

In this order: Taylor, Kat, and then Elliott--with Elliott getting the ax. However, it's practically a tie between Kat & Elliott, so it could go either way. Taylor is definitely in the lead.

I actually totally agree! I was just making a general statement on performances last night.

I know the results already because I cheated by looking on the Americanidol.com boards. I will NOT miss Lost for AI.

I'll wait to express my feelings on the results until later.

Aww my man Elliot is gone? I was surprised that the bald rocker dude got voted off... I thought he was the favorite to win it all. I guess the people who like that kinda music are less likely to take the time to press the buttons to vote .
